Creating an All-Season Haven for a Homeowner in Aurora

Finley and Sons Builders recently transformed a sunroom that needed to be replaced into an all-season room with heat for a homeowner in Aurora.

Outdoor Upgrade

Finley and Sons helped this family transform their backyard space, adding a new 200 square foot screened in porch and 550 square foot stamped concrete patio that is cozier, more comfortable, and much more stylish. The porch was designed with floor-to-ceiling screens to keep views to the backyard open.  A gas fireplace is centered on one wall to warm up the space during cooler months, while a natural pine ceiling and a shiplap fireplace surround add visual interest and provide a beautiful, airy space for the family to relax and entertain throughout the year.

All in the Family

Finley and Sons Builders helped this homeowner achieve their vision of a more modern, contemporary space, completely overhauling the house from top to bottom. The result is a home that pays homage to the past while providing a comfortable space for today’s living.

Reimaging an Empty Nest

This Hudson couple loved so much about the tidy Cape Cod where they’d raised their family: the house was loaded with charming details like built-in window seats, the neighbors were friendly, and the private yard backed up to a beautiful golf course. But the house was not without its challenges. They’d taken the cramped downstairs bedroom and given the kids the larger rooms upstairs, and had been making do with a teeny closet and no en suite bathroom for 15 years. Now on the verge of becoming empty nesters, the time was finally right for them to tackle their long-awaited dream of creating an owner’s oasis.

Doubling Down on Backyard Style

This dramatic two-story deck and patio in Aurora shows how the right outdoor design can boost a home’s function and style. Finley & Sons worked with the homeowners to determine how their existing outdoor space could be modernized, then re-built the old wooden deck with easy-care Trex decking in warm wood tones and an updated railing with integrated lights that gently illuminate the space and cast an inviting glow in the evenings. The result? A peaceful, serene dining area high amid the treetops.  Downstairs, the covered patio was revamped
with a ceiling fan to make hot summer days more enjoyable. Together, the new tiered deck and patio give the homeowners a space for everything, from lounging to family meals to entertaining.

From Dated to Desirable

This Hudson home had served its family well for 30 years—but the small kitchen, outdated master bath, and cramped deck needed an upgrade to better fit the owners’ lifestyles. We worked closely with the homeowners to create a fluid 420-square foot addition that enlarged the kitchen, modernized the outdoor space and transformed the master bathroom into a spa-like retreat.

From Tired to On-Trend

An updated floorplan made all the difference in creating a striking space for cooking, eating, and entertaining in this Hudson kitchen. The original kitchen design cut the work area off from the rest of the house, creating an unnatural flow in the back of the house. The first step was to reimagine the space so it felt more integrated with the surrounding rooms. Out went the ‘80s-style peninsula that jutted into the kitchen and broke up the space; in its place, we installed a generous island that opened to the dining area and doubled the owners’ storage and prep space. Dated blue cabinetry, Formica countertops, and linoleum floors were replaced with crisp ceiling-height cabinets, natural stone counters, and hardwood flooring. A deep farmhouse-style sink, double wall ovens, and a state-of-the-art induction cooktop completed the transformation.

Fresh Makeover for a Stow Kitchen

A Stow customer worked with Finley and Sons to create the kitchen of her dreams. A fresh white palette transformed this outdated kitchen into a functional, stunning workspace made for entertaining. We also updated the first-floor powder room with a new vanity and hardware that complements the redesigned kitchen. The end result is a welcoming classic kitchen that the owner enjoys cooking in every day.

A Modern Makeover in Aurora

A fresh modern makeover was just what this Aurora home needed to make its homeowners fall in love again with their home sweet home. This remodeling project included two full bathrooms, a half bath/laundry room redo, and a stunning basement renovation that dramatically expanded the home’s living space.

Creating a Forever Home in Hudson

This Hudson family loved their neighborhood — but with four kids, two parents, and one grandparent all living under the same roof, they were simply out of space. Finley and Sons helped them stay in their family home with an ambitious two-story addition that includes a first-floor master suite and second-floor storage space, plus a freestanding two car garage. Working closely with the family on every detail, we took this home from cramped to comfortable, making sure everyone has a space of their own in their home sweet home.

Ranch House Re-Do

A whole-house remodel made the interior of this Bath ranch as stunning as its secluded, wooded setting. When Finley & Sons co-owner Chris Finley bought the property, it hadn’t been updated in more than 30 years. But with his 20+ years of experience, Chris immediately saw the potential and knew he could restore the home to glory. Over the course of a four-month renovation, no room was left untouched.

Outdoor Living in Hudson

This Hudson family came to us with a request: Help us make the most of Northeast Ohio summers. Working closely with the homeowners, we designed a 16 x 20 square foot deck and 14 x 14 square foot enclosed porch addition that gives the family an inviting outdoor space for meals, relaxing after work, and entertaining from spring to fall. Skylights and walls of windows in the screened-in porch flood the space with natural light and catch the breeze, while rustic wooden ceiling beams bring in the feeling of the outdoors. The adjacent open deck provides plenty of room for grilling, sitting, and enjoying the private backyard.
