Reimaging an Empty Nest
This Hudson couple loved so much about the tidy Cape Cod where they’d raised their family: the house was loaded with charming details like built-in window seats, the neighbors were friendly, and the private yard backed up to a beautiful golf course. But the house was not without its challenges. They’d taken the cramped downstairs bedroom and given the kids the larger rooms upstairs, and had been making do with a teeny closet and no en suite bathroom for 15 years. Now on the verge of becoming empty nesters, the time was finally right for them to tackle their long-awaited dream of creating an owner’s oasis.
Finley & Sons worked with the homeowners to bring their ambitious vision to transform the home to life. The just under 1,000 square-foot addition includes a spacious first-floor master’s suite complete with a luxurious bathroom and California-style screened in porch, walk-in closet with a custom make-up station, laundry room, and home office. The crowning glory is a stunning glassed-in breezeway and morning room that runs along the back of the house and provides sweeping views of the golf course. During construction, energy-saving updates were also made to the existing structure making the home more energy efficient and livable. With plenty of space for relaxing, working, entertaining, and playing with their grandkids, the couple looks forward to many happy days to come with their growing family.
